Khamlex stands up for himself!

MISSING LEG
Khamlex lives in Laos and was born with a left leg missing. He was unable to attend school as it was too difficult getting him there and back everyday and the school was not geared up to his needs. Khamlex seemed to be going literally nowhere.

A GIFT FOR CHANGE
Then the family found that COPE, POWER International’s project in Laos, would fit him with an artificial limb free of charge. This is not a quick job especially as Khamlex lives 8 hours journey away from the clinic. Having made the journey he stayed at the clinic whilst his leg was being made and received extensive physiotherapy. He worked hard to adjust to the new limb and soon came on in leaps and bounds!

FINDING A FUTURE
Several months on Khamlex is a very happy boy. He can climb trees and is starting school where he plans to work hard so he can become a policeman. A whole new world of opportunity is opening up for him. Asked how he feels about the new leg Khmalex replied that he feels 'very handsome'.
